Overview

Queens University of Charlotte is a private university in Charlotte, North Carolina. It has approximately 2,300 undergraduate and graduate students, including the School of Arts and Sciences, McCall School of Business, Wayland H. Cato, Jr. School of Education, James L. Knight School of Communication and Andrew Blair School of Health, including the Presbyterian School of Nursing. The university was founded in 1857 and offers 34 undergraduate majors and 66 majors, as well as 10 graduate programs. It belongs to the Presbyterian Church (United States). The school was founded in 1857 as Charlotte Women's College. It was originally located on 9th Street in the college and now uptown Charlotte. From 1891 to 1896, it was called the Women's Seminary. In 1896, the Concord Presbyterian and Mecklenburg Presbyterian Chartered Presbyterian Women's College. The seminary merged with this new college. In 1912, it was expected to move to the existing campus near Miles Park and the school became Queen's College.
