In order to expand access to new products, services and savings, University of California Berkeley has cooperated with the Follett higher education group to manage UC Berkeley bookstores. After taking over the bookstore, Follett launches a series of programs to reduce students' costs in purchasing essential school supplies. For example, the bookstore offers buyback program, so that students can sell their used books to the bookstore and get some refunds back. Especially in the beginning and the end of the semester, selling books can get more money back than usual time. In addition to the buyback program, the bookstore also supports students to rent used books or digital books since it can help students save up to half the money of new ones.
